FDA Approval for Crow’s Feet Reduction

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given its official approval to Botox for the treatment of crow’s feet. It has released a statement confirming that Botox is an effective but temporary solution for the reduction of wrinkles and fine lines forming near aging eyes, which are called crow’s feet. Allergan, Inc., the Irvine, CA based manufacturer of Botox, received the approval from the FDA following several tests and studies, including a detailed study involving a large group of participants. The study divided people into two groups, and one of the groups was randomly chosen to receive Botox placebo injections to treat crow’s feet. This group of 833 participating adults showed a noticeable reduction in the appearance of crow’s feet following the treatment, when compared to the other group that was not treated. While the treatment has now received FDA’s approval for crow’s feet, but Dr. Bijan Farah advises his patients in Encino, Sherman Oaks, San Fernando, Calabasas, CA, and other areas connected to these locations to have realistic expectations from the procedure in order to achieve satisfactory results.

Crow’s Feet

At Dr. Farah’s med spa, patients can have an opportunity to understand exactly what crow’s feet refer to and how far their appearance can be reduced with Botox. Crow’s feet are the fine lines emanating from the outside corner of the eyes that become more pronounced as a person smiles. Muscles in the facial area become activated as the action of smiling occurs. These muscles contract underneath the skin, causing the top layer of skin to develop a fold. When this action occurs repeatedly over a long period of time, it develops a permanent wrinkle in that area. As skin elasticity goes down with age, the wrinkle tends to become deeper. Botox is an effective anti-aging treatment to reduce the appearance of crow’s feet. The toxin is injected directly into the overactive muscle that is causing the wrinkle. It severs the communication between the muscle and the nervous system, causing the muscle to go into a state of temporary paralysis. This allows the wrinkle to fade away, and contraction of muscle does not occur when a person is smiling. With this approach, crow’s feet can be eliminated safely and smoothly. The treatment should be received from a recognized medical spa or a qualified Botox expert only. Source of News: FDA Press Release
