Am I a Good CoolSculpting Candidate?

CoolSculpting Candidates

Coolsculpting is an FDA-cleared non-invasive technique to remove excess and undesirable fat deposits from targeted areas of the body. It is one of the most effective solutions to treat fatty tissue in areas such as the hips, abdomen, or thighs.   However, not everyone may be a candidate for Coolsculpting. Some individuals will make better candidates for Coolsculpting compared to others. During the initial consultation, your treatment provider will determine whether this is the right option for you.  Rejuenvate Medical Spa, led by Dr. Bijan Farah, provides CoolSculpting to patients in Encino, Sherman Oaks, San Fernando, Calabasas, Woodland Hills, Tarzana, Los Angeles, CA, and surrounding locations.

Reasonable Body Weight

Coolsculpting is a fat removal procedure, but it is not designed to achieve weight loss. In general, an individual will lose up to 20 or 25 percent of the excess fatty tissue from the affected areas Multiple treatment sessions may be necessary to meet the patient’s body contouring goals. However, Coolsculpting is not the ideal treatment people looking to lose 25 or 30 pounds of weight.   For people who want to choose Coolsculpting but are considerably overweight, may first focus on achieving a moderate body weight and then turn to CoolSculpting for their body contouring.

Stubborn Fat Tissue

Fat deposits can be tricky, and sometimes even an individual with an overall fit body and healthy body weight may still have unsightly fat pockets in certain areas of the body.   It can be difficult to remove the stubborn fat tissue even with regular exercise and a controlled diet. Coolsculpting is often the right choice for candidates who have stubborn fat deposits and are seeking a non-invasive solution for it.

Good Health

Coolsculpting is completely non-surgical and will involve very little risk and short recovery time. However, it is a medical treatment nevertheless, and the provider will review the general health condition of the candidate before recommending CoolSculpting. Mild and temporary side effects such as bruising and swelling in the treated sides may occur in some cases.   These side effects are less likely and will be less intensive if the patient enjoys a good overall health. It is vital for a patient to disclose any medical issues or chronic health problems to the provider prior to the procedure.

Not for Pregnant Women

Coolsculpting may not be the right choice for women who are pregnant or planning to get pregnant. There is inadequate research on whether or how CoolSculpting affects a pregnant woman’s health or the health of the fetus. But it is still advisable to choose CoolSculpting after childbirth and not during pregnancy.   Following the pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding, some women may develop excess fat deposits in the abdominal or other areas. Therefore, CoolSculpting will anyway lead to more benefits for women post-pregnancy.

Substantial Fat to be Treated

For the best results, the excess fat should be on the surface areas, which can be pinched or grabbed with fingers. CoolSculpting will involve a suction process to remove fat, and the applicator may not work well if the fat tissue is not enough.   Rejuvenate Med Spa receives patients from Encino, Sherman Oaks, San Fernando, Calabasas, Woodland Hills, Tarzana, Los Angeles, CA, and nearby areas for CoolSculpting.
