What is Juvederm Ultra?
JUVEDERM ULTRA Injectable Gel is a “next generation”, FDA-approved dermal filler that is specifically designed to rejuvenate delicate facial skin that has been harmed by the aging process and constant exposure to harsh environmental factors such as sun and pollution. JUVEDERM ULTRA works by restoring your skin’s hyaluronic acid (HA) levels, naturally giving your skin much-needed volume and hydration, smoothing out lines and wrinkles, and giving the skin an enhanced, youthful glow. JUVEDERM ULTRA is the perfect treatment for men and women who are unhappy with the appearance of laugh lines and wrinkles around the mouth, thin lips, a tired, gaunt appearance due to lost facial volume, or other cosmetic effects of aging and environmental exposure.

Procedure
JUVEDERM ULTRA is a hyaluronic acid (HA)-based filler that is injected
into the skin to replace moisture and volume that has been lost due to aging and environmental damage. Before the treatment, the medical staff will conduct a thorough assessment of your specific skin type and condition to determine exactly which JUVEDERM ULTRA formula is best suited to meet your unique aesthetic goals. Unlike with some dermal fillers, JUVEDERM ULTRA does not require an allergy test because the HA in JUVEDERM ULTRA is not animal-based. The treatment is performed in the office and generally takes less than 20-30 minutes. If the JUVEDERM ULTRA formula selected to meet your goals contains an anesthetic, additional topical anesthetic is not required. A topical anesthetic will be applied prior to treatment if your formula does not contain an anesthetic.
Downtime after a JUVEDERM ULTRA treatment is minimal, and patients can return to their normal activities immediately. Patients will be advised to avoid strenuous exercise, exposure to sun or heat, and consumption of alcohol. JUVEDERM is specially formulated to minimize post-procedure skin and tissue irritation, but some patients may notice temporary tenderness, swelling, bruising, or firmness; these symptoms should resolve within a week. You will see the benefits of your JUVEDERM treatment immediately, and for many people, these benefits will last for 6-9 months, significantly longer than many collagen-based fillers. For some individuals, however, periodic maintenance treatments may be necessary to preserve and maintain optimal results.
