What is the Bellafill Advantage®?

Dermal fillers offer a non-surgical way to achieve the rejuvenating effects of a facelift without the recovery time and cost associated with more invasive surgical procedures.  Colloquially referred to as a “liquid facelift”, dermal fillers boost the body’s natural levels of hyaluronic acid (HA), a viscous fluid that enables the skin to more efficiently attract and hold water. With normal levels of hyaluronic acid, our skin appears youthfully smooth, plump, and healthy; however, over time our natural HA levels gradually decrease, causing our skin to lose its supple firmness while increasing the prominence of wrinkles and rough or uneven skin texture.  Dermal fillers such as Bellafill® (formerly Artefill) work by replenishing depleted HA levels and offer a safe, fast, and comfortable way to refresh the skin and restore a youthful, healthy glow to the face. Bellafill® is formulated with micro-spheres of a biocompatible synthetic known as PMMA (polymethylmethacrylate), which transports collagen deep into the facial skin, making it an excellent choice for patients who present with facial wrinkles around the mouth (i.e. laugh lines).  Bellafill® provides two principal benefits:

• Immediate improvements to the skin’s appearance and health, as the collagen, fills in unwanted lines and wrinkles

• Continued, long-term improvements as the PMMA microspheres remain in place to facilitate the production of new collagen while building a lasting structural framework within the skin to support the collagen and strengthen the sub-dermal layers

Although Bellafill® is a non-surgical treatment, if administered improperly, it can trigger unwelcome aesthetic consequences and an unnatural appearance. Procedure

Bellafill® can be used for a nonsurgical buttlift but is also used for the correction of nasolabial folds, which are the wrinkles/fine lines that appear between the nose and the corners of the mouth, often referred to as “smile lines” or “laugh lines”. Your Bellafill® treatment will be administered during a simple, brief office visit, and will not require any post-injection downtime.  The injection is formulated with lidocaine, which will help to ensure that you are comfortable during and after your treatment. Possible side effects to Bellafill® are usually mild and temporary (subsiding within 2-7 days), and may include discomfort, swelling, bruising, itching, reddening, or increased sensitivity at the treatment site.  Individuals with allergies or sensitivities to lidocaine or bovine collagen products should not use Bellafill®. Your results will be visible immediately after treatment and can last for up to one year. In order to best maximize the longevity of your treatments, periodic maintenance treatments are recommended.
